The United States has recorded 4,410 confirmed measles cases in 2026 through October 15, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s October 16 update. The national figure includes 18 international visitors.

CDC lists 42 new outbreaks this year and says 96% of confirmed cases are associated with outbreaks, including outbreaks that began in 2025. The numbers are preliminary and may change as reports are reviewed.

The dates matter for families comparing reports: CDC’s weekly page uses confirmed cases notified by noon on Thursday, while state and local health departments publish on their own schedules. A newer state total should not be added to the federal figure without checking whether those cases are already included.

CDC recommends discussing measles vaccination with a healthcare provider, especially before travel. This report describes surveillance data; it does not identify an individual reader’s exposure or substitute for local health-department advice.
