Bryan Cranston has paid tribute to RJ Mitte, the actor who played his son Walter White Jr. on Breaking Bad, following Mitte’s death Monday at 34.

In a statement reported by Variety, Cranston recalled meeting Mitte as a teenager and watching his acting skills develop during the series. His tribute ended with a personal farewell: “I’ll miss you, son.”

Mitte’s work extended beyond the role that introduced him to a worldwide audience. He advocated for disability representation and served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s. His later acting credits included Switched at Birth and The Guardians of Justice.

Variety reported that Mitte’s representative confirmed he died by suicide. The same report cited Brownsville police saying the official cause and manner of death remained pending during an ongoing investigation. The representative’s statement should not be confused with a completed official finding.

Cranston’s tribute remembered both their years working together and Mitte’s growth as an actor. It also highlighted the advocacy that became an important part of his public life.
