How the hybrid newsroom works
NewsCubby openly uses AI-assisted systems to help discover, organize, deduplicate, and classify headlines from around the world. People remain responsible for approving sources, establishing standards, and controlling editorial prominence.
AI-assisted discovery and organization
Automation checks approved RSS and Atom feeds, validates links, removes duplicates, assigns initial categories, and helps surface developing topics. AI assistance does not make a source trustworthy or grant permission to reuse its work.
Humans approve every source
A new publisher stays offline until its identity, feed ownership, reuse terms, attribution requirements, and technical behavior have been reviewed. Approved sources may publish validated headline-and-link records automatically.
People control prominence
Editors can feature, rank, correct, suppress, or remove coverage and decide whether an item receives breaking-news treatment. Breaking placement is never granted automatically.
Headline-first discovery
NewsCubby identifies the publisher, preserves the publisher’s direct link, and sends readers there for the complete reporting. Full article text is not republished.
Limited use by default
The default public record contains only a headline, publisher attribution, publication time, and direct link. Descriptions, images, logos, and article text remain blocked unless separately authorized.
Worldwide without location bias
Selection is not centered on New York, Long Island, or the operator’s location. Local and regional reporting may be included from anywhere when it contributes meaningfully to the larger news picture.
Corrections and accountability
Malformed links and duplicate records are automatically rejected. Publishers and readers can report corrections, attribution concerns, withdrawals, or rights issues for prompt human review.
