BEND, Oregon — At least two people were taken to a hospital and the suspected shooter is dead following a reported shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School on Thursday, October 15, according to FOX 12 Oregon (KPTV), citing the Bend Police Department.
Local station KTVZ separately reports that children are among the victims. NewsCubby has not independently established their ages, identities or conditions. The figure of at least two people taken to a hospital should not be treated as a final victim count.
Bend police announced their response to an active-shooter report in an initial release posted at 1:26 p.m. Pacific, or 4:26 p.m. Eastern. They described a substantial emergency response around the school.

Police designated Journey Church, 61303 S Highway 97, as the family reunification location and asked students’ families to go there. That instruction was still present in the police statement reviewed for this report.
Silver Rail is part of Bend-La Pine Schools. Its official website lists the campus at 61530 SE Stone Creek Lane in Bend. The Associated Press reported the school was under lockdown and serves kindergarten through fifth grade.
