Thor: Love and Thunder's first teaser: Jane Foster and the fourth Thor film

The 2022 teaser introduced Thor's search for peace and Jane Foster wielding Mjolnir. Natalie Portman's Mighty Thor role was part of Love and Thunder, not a separate announced film.

What the teaser established

Marvel's April 2022 teaser article described Thor: Love and Thunder as a story that interrupts Thor's search for inner peace. Chris Hemsworth plays Thor, with Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The announcement identifies Natalie Portman's Jane Foster wielding Mjolnir as the Mighty Thor, alongside Valkyrie and Korg.

That description clarifies why an old Thor 4 headline may show a different person holding the hammer. Jane Foster and Thor remain distinct characters within the same film; a shared heroic title or weapon is not proof that the original character has been removed from the story.

A teaser is a preview, not the whole plot

Promotional footage selects moments to introduce a premise. It is not a complete account of the film's chronology or ending, and omitted scenes should not be filled in with fan theories presented as facts. This page preserves the teaser's place in the 2022 release campaign. For another example of a heroic identity passing to a different character, the linked Captain America guide explains Sam Wilson's role in Brave New World.
