What changed on October 18
Twitch's October 18, 2022 explanation expanded earlier restrictions on gambling links and referral codes. It prohibited streaming specified sites containing slots, roulette or dice games when those sites lacked licensing in the United States or other jurisdictions Twitch considered sufficiently protective of consumers.
The company discussed safeguards such as deposit limits, waiting periods and age verification. The announcement therefore concerned platform content rules and the sites being streamed, rather than declaring that every game of chance was illegal everywhere.
