Netflix is cutting roughly 1,000 jobs, representing about 6% of its workforce, according to October 14 reporting by Adam Chitwood of TheWrap and Alex Weprin of The Hollywood Reporter. Both outlets say they obtained the company’s memo to employees.
What the staff memo says
Co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters told employees that organizational changes would affect product, technology, legal and human-resources teams most heavily. The memo says the process will differ by country and that managers will contact affected employees.
The figures are approximate, and the announcement does not establish that every departure has already taken place. TheWrap reports that Netflix offered no additional comment beyond the staff email.
