Evacuation orders remained in effect for parts of San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano overnight after the Norte Fire started on October 16. The official incident page lists San Clemente zones SCL 12 and SCL 13 and San Juan Capistrano zones SJC 04, SJC 05 and SJC 10.

An Orange County Fire Authority update posted at 10:35 p.m. Pacific on Friday reported 570 acres and 0% containment. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.

The city of San Juan Capistrano directs evacuated residents to its community center at 25925 Camino del Avion and says portions of several local roads are closed. Use the county’s live evacuation map and Caltrans for current routes; closures and orders can change.

California also secured federal fire-management assistance. This supports the response and does not mean the emergency has ended. Residents under an evacuation order should follow local emergency officials’ directions.
