U.S. producer prices for final demand rose 1.3% in September from the previous month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Thursday. The seasonally adjusted monthly rise was the largest since March 2022. Prices were 6.3% higher than a year earlier on an unadjusted basis. Goods prices increased 2.6% for the month and services rose 0.8%. The Producer Price Index measures prices received by producers; it is a separate measure from consumer-price inflation.
