Friday’s Los Angeles performance included the song Jolene and a personal memory of watching her godmother from the audience.

Miley Cyrus brought a personal remembrance of Dolly Parton to the Hollywood Bowl on Friday, pausing during her Los Angeles concert to honor her late godmother before performing Jolene.
In original reporting published Saturday, PA described Cyrus becoming emotional as she recalled attending a Parton show at the same venue. Cyrus had wanted to experience that earlier concert from the audience. Parton instead opened with the Hannah Montana theme, The Best of Both Worlds, and announced that her goddaughter was sitting among the fans.
The memory gave Friday’s tribute a connection to the place where Cyrus was now performing. PA reported that she spoke about continuing to feel Parton’s presence and then sang Jolene.
The artist’s official tour listing and Ticketmaster’s event information confirm the October 16 Hollywood Bowl engagement, with a second date listed for Sunday, October 18.
Friday’s tribute is the reported event at the heart of this story. It should not be read as a promise that the same moment or set list will recur Sunday.
