Russia-sanctions waivers, coastal wind and flooding risks, a White House transition and My Chemical Romance’s publishing deal.
By NewsCubby Editorial Desk · Published · Updated
Your Saturday starts with a change in Russia-sanctions policy, coastal weather risks, a White House personnel transition and music-business news. Weather details below are tied to their stated check time.
New Russia sanctions are waived; other sanctions remain
President Donald Trump’s October 16 order waives new import tariffs and specified sanctions under the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act. It expressly preserves measures under other executive orders addressing Russian harmful foreign activities. The waivers continue until the President or authorized officials determine that further action is appropriate.

Coastal wind and flooding risks build this weekend
Wind advisories for Virginia Beach and Currituck County start at 10 a.m. Eastern Saturday, with north winds of 25–35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph forecast. Parts of Hampton Roads have coastal flood advisories from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, with up to a foot of water expected in vulnerable coastal locations. Coastal flood warnings for Hatteras and Ocracoke islands run from 5 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Tuesday, with 2–4 feet of inundation forecast near the coast and tidal waterways. NWS warns that road and ferry disruption could leave people stranded on either island for several days. Coastal flood watches, which indicate possible flooding, cover parts of Hampton Roads and the lower James River from Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. The offshore system’s track remains uncertain. We checked the official alerts at 6 a.m. Eastern on Saturday, October 17; check local warnings before travel.
